Search is on for historic Swaffham tape

A museum enthusiast is appealing for help in tracing a missing tape which could give a “fascinating” insight into school and town life in Swaffham more than 50 years ago.
Dedicated local researcher David Butters is trying to piece together the history of the town, compiling a collection of documents and recordings for future generations.
He is now keen to trace a 1958 tape - Our School in Sound - recorded by a Miss Prouton at Swaffham Junior and Infants.
“I know it's a big spool and I know it exists because I was at the school when it was recorded. However, when I contacted the school they told me they don't have it. It would be wonderful if we could get hold of the original or a copy to turn it into a CD version for the museum and for the Norfolk Sound Archives. The tape gives a fascinating insight into life in Swaffham in 1958. I'm very keen to hear from anyone who might know anything about this tape.”
