Swaffham residents have identified some of the town's leisure needs at a special meeting.
Around 70 people took part in a discussion last night, expressing their desires for a swimming pool as well as an improved network of routes for cycling and walking, a multi-use sports hall as well as all-weather outdoor pitches, and facilities for the arts.
The meeting jointly hosted by Breckland Council with Swaffham Town Council aimed to get a better understanding of people's priorities.
“Local people were asked to think about their aspirations and work up their ideas and priorities,” a spokesman for Breckland Council said.
“A number of common themes emerged, for example every proposal included a swimming pool and an improved network of routes for cycling and walking. Many further priorities were identified, from multi-use sports hall, to all weather outdoor pitches, gym, bowling, and facilities for the arts: cinema, drama concerts and community use.
The next steps will include looking at detailed analysis of needs, and building a business case for development.
