Norfolk artists have been invited to bid for a £5,000 commission to produce a piece of public art at a development of new homes.

Watton-based Abel Homes is seeking artists from the area for its Hare's Green site, where it is building 98 new energy-efficient family homes off Blenheim Way just north of Norwich Road.

The commission is part of the firm's ongoing public art programme, which has already seen nine pieces installed by Norfolk artists.

The brief is to come up with ideas for a public artwork themed around hares, reflecting the site's name and the hare shown jumping over a barrel on the town sign, as 'wat' is the Norfolk dialect name for hare, and 'ton' or 'tun' is the name for a barrel.

Interested artists can find out more about the brief from Maggie Abel by contacting 01953 884486, or emailing maggie@abelhomes.co.uk.
