A printing company that has been around for nearly 40 years has shrugged off a number of challenges and is continuing to thrive, with its management claiming that experience is key to success in their competitive industry.

Rapide Design and Print, based in Watton, has a number of well-known clients, including property specialist Carter Jonas, the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association and local artist Brian Lewis.

The company, which started life in 1971, is looking forward to a busy year ahead after seeing a tremendous growth of the colour digital printing business side of the operation in 2007 .

“I think the main key to our success has been working closely with our customers at every stage,” said managing director Peter Scott.

“It's not unusual for us to invite our customers to see their work as it comes off the presses and to be involved beyond simply placing the order.”

Rapide's direct approach seems to have paid off over the years, and the workforce has more than doubled to 15. Meanwhile, the company's premises have been expanded by 1,000 square feet. Mr Scott said the business - which has turnover of about £840,000 - was well placed to cope with the current economic downturn, and there could be further expansion in the future.

“In this industry, you have to give an exceptional level of service and quality at the right price and deliver on time,” he said.

“We believe we are well equipped to weather any oncoming storms.”

Sales director Mike Knight added: “Experience in this industry is invaluable and vital in producing top quality work to tight deadlines.

“The quality of the product will reflect not just on us but on our clients and we know that prices have to be keen in the current economic environment.

“We have a loyal and long-serving workforce that shares our commitment to our customers and this helps us to ensure the finished product is the best quality possible, at a good price and delivered on time.”
