PLANS to extend a currently vacant hotel to make it more financially viable have been submitted to Breckland Council.
The Bull Hotel, in High Street, Watton, has been empty for more than a year, and now Griston-based T R Scott Properties is applying for permission to build a single-story extension to enable the Bull to have a 90-cover restaurant. The extension would also house new toilets.
The company also wants to add a first floor extension above the kitchen to create a one-bedroom flat, as well as convert a nearby barn into retail space on the ground floor and add a first floor extension for a two-bedroom home.
T R Scott Properties also hopes to demolish a second barn to make way for a new building that would include retail space on the ground floor and two one-bedroom flats on the first floor.
A report sent to Breckland said: 'The proposals will allow the Bull Hotel to become a financially viable asset to the town of Watton.'
