Staff and pupils at St Peter and St Paul School in Carbrooke are celebrating a double boost after a great Ofsted inspection and the securing of a free school bus for pupils who come to the school from the Norwich Road estates in the village.

Results of the Ofsted inspection, which took place at the end of January have just been published.

They rate the school as “good” and emphasise that it is providing “a high quality of education for pupils”.

Headteacher Sue Youngs and her teaching staff are praised for their contribution to the school. Sue's “strong and committed leadership” is highlighted while the teaching is rated as good “with some examples of very good practice”.

Parents of children are also very happy with the education provided and many speak highly of school. One parent wrote:” We could not have picked a better school as both our children are doing really well and are very happy.”

The free school bus comes after years of lobbying Norfolk County Council about the dangers of walking, cycling or driving along the narrow Summer Lane during the school run.

The authority monitored the road during a busy period and decided the road was unsafe for pedestrians and that a bus would provide a much safer way of bringing pupils to the village school.

“We are delighted with the news and look forward to the bus bringing almost 30 of our pupils at the start of next term,” said Sue Youngs.
