Society’s ball raises £10,000 for child bereavement charity
A agricultural society has presented a child bereavement charity with a cheque for £10,000.
The money was raised for Nelson’s Journey during the annual Wayland Ball held in March at Lyndford Hall.
The ball is organised by the Wayland Agricultural Society, and raises money for charities each year.
Sarah Hyde, of Nelson’s Journey, said: “A full package of support costs £522 for a child or young person. This includes an assessment of a child’s bereavement needs, attendance on a therapeutic weekend and one to one follow up work.
“That means the fantastic £10,000 could fund 19 children through this process, helping them to move forward positively with their lives.”
Claire Bowes, of the ball organising committee, said: “It is only with the generous support of our guests, sponsors and donors, that we are able to raise the funds that we do and we are extremely thankful for their continued support”
