A new children's playground, funded by a grant from the National Lottery, has been opened in Carbrooke.

The playground, on Millenium Green, Church Street, received a grant of £10,000 from the fund.

The official opening took place at the newly built play area on November 3, at 2pm.

The event was attended by Carbrook parish council chairman, Phil Sampher, who cut the ribbon to open the play area, accompanied by local school children.

Also in attendance at the opening were the playground committee, and the Reverend Jane Atkins, who blessed the playground during the opening ceremony.

Carbrooke's Millennium Green, was established in 2000. It is a 10-acre space of wildlife, trees and flowers, with a maze, pond, and theatre, in addition to the play area.

National Lottery money is awarded by independent organisations. Projects must apply for funding in order to be considered for a grant.
