People in the Swaffham area are being encouraged to find their voice - and possibly enjoy better health - as a new choir is launched.

After the huge success of the Sing For Wellbeing group established last year, Carol O'Neill has decided to launch the town's first community choir supported by Swaffham Arts.

Mrs O'Neill said singing together would not only help the community and encourage people to make new friends but also had health benefits.

She said: "There has been a tremendous response to Sing for Wellbeing and I feel the community would benefit from an ongoing group. People are finding they can sing after spending their lives thinking that they can't.

"All voices and abilities are welcome without the need for auditions, and songs are taught by ear, so knowledge of music notation is not necessary."

The choir will provide opportunities for people to take the lead and sing solos.

Weekly sessions begin on April 21 and will run every Tuesday from 7pm-9pm.

Eventually, the choir hopes to perform informal concerts to raise funds for local charities.
