A housing association is making a fresh bid for 12 “desperately needed" affordable homes in a Norfolk village after previous plans were refused by councillors who described them as “being like something out of Eastern Europe."
Hastoe Housing Association wants to develop a site at Dunnetts Close, Ashill, for a mix of
shared ownership and rented two and three bedroom homes.
A survey revealed 59 households in Ashill are in need of housing, with 39 requiring affordable properties.
The average house price in the village is £150,000.
Last month Breckland's development control committee turned down the application for the contemporary designed and eco-friendly properties, despite local support.
Hastoe has re-submitted its application and made amendments after considering the committee's comments.
