Users of the gym at Swaffham Leisure Centre now have a wider choice of equipment to use following a 15,000 investment.

The gym area was extended about a year ago when one of the squash courts was incorporated into the gym, creating much more space.

Now the range of exercise equipment, including more advanced multi-functional weight-training equipment and treadmills, costing around 15,000, have been installed at the Brandon Road complex.

Manager Paul Bealey explained that there are now 200 members and for 321 a month members get unlimited use of the gym and two free swims a week at the Dereham and Thetford pools.

Mr Bealey hopes that the new equipment, which cater for the training needs of everyone, not just serious weight trainers, will encourage an increase in membership.
