The money will be donated to the Mission to Seafarers - a charity serving merchant crews around the world.

One of the event organisers Paul Weatherill said the exhibition went “extremely well”.

He said: “There were 500 hates decorated inside the church and it looked great. It was fabulous and the good thing they will be going to help do some good.

“The plan is to send the hats and scarves to the seafarers and they will then be used by the various seafarers around the world.”

He added: “We were trying to highlight the plight of seafarers here and all over the world.”

Around £600 was also raised for the church.
