A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison following a string of offences.

Robin Croft, of Blake Court, Swaffham, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Monday (July 15) and pleaded guilty to theft, burglary and obstructing a police officer in his duty.

Croft was remanded in custody after a theft on Friday, July 12, which saw a lawnmower stolen from premises in Swaffham. Later the same day, a burglary saw another two lawnmowers stolen from a separate location in the town.

Croft had already received a suspended sentence on July 2 following the theft of several items from Tesco and, as a result, he was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison on Monday.

On May 13 of this year, he was given a conditional discharge by the courts for shoplifting offences.

Croft was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122 and a fine of £75 for obstructing the police constable.
