To help tackle litter in parts of Watton a new group has been launched.

The Watton Community Litter Pickers has been formed by Steve Curtis, Georgina Agent and Rachel Baker following concerns about the amount of litter around the former RAF Watton site.

A litter pick event was arranged for Sunday, January 21, and 17 volunteers - including the mayor Stan Hebborn - took part.

More than 30 bags of litter were collected, including cans, bottles, crisp packets, a pushchair, tyres, chicken wire and wooden beams.

The items would sorted into recyclable and non-recyclable bags and Breckland Council - who have also loaned equipment to the group - arranged for collection of the waste.

The group said they are not sure when the next litter pick will be but information about how to take part can be found by visiting Watton Community Litter Pickers Group on Facebook.
