The 10th annual duck race staged by the Friends of Castle Acre primary school saw more than 700 numbered ducks come under starter's orders at the village Jubilee Bridge, all carried along by the current towards the finishing post at the village ford. The honours went, after about 50 minutes, to duck 699 which gave its delighted owner Loraine Corrall the first prize of a £20 book voucher. Runner-up was Jeremy Holding who won a £15 book voucher.

Friends of the Castle Acre school chairman, Carolyn Ash, said it was a wonderful event, with the children splashing about in the water helping to release ducks that had become stuck in weeds. The event made £735 for school funds.
