MORE than 130 homes and five shops are being planned in the latest redevelopment of the former RAF Watton

base.

Hundreds of properties have already been built on the site off Norwich Road.

Now, David Wilson Homes of Chelmsford has applied to Breckland Council for 113 homes plus garages and an access

road on part of the former technical site at Carbrooke and Griston.

And in a separate application, a Nottingham-based company called HDD RAF Watton has outlined proposals for five

shops and 22 flats in a neighhbourhood centre at Blenheim Grange at Carbrooke on another part of the RAF Watton station.

The David Wilson plans are for 66 three-bedroom houses and 47 four bedroom homes, which is phase two of the ex technical site redevelopment.

Work is under way for homes

on phase one and outline permiss- ion has already been given for phase two and the new application is for details of the scheme.

The neighbourhood centre would include five shops - one large one and four smaller units - and there would be a total of 65 parking spaces.

The 22 flats would be on the first and second floors of the new buildings.

The scheme would include a new roundabout.

The application states:

“The neighbourhood centre is essential to help the community thrive.”
