Concerned residents presented flowers to a widow who was mugged while she tended her husband’s grave.

The 80-year-old from Watton was at St Mary’s churchyard in the town between 1.30pm and 1.45pm on Wednesday, October 3, when she was targeted.

She was also visiting the grave of her mother-in-law before her bag was snatched.

Following the crime, the community rallied round and raised more than £60 for the victim after the news of the robbery was put on Facebook.

Kelly Lacey, 34, a full-time mother from Hunters Oak, Watton, said: “We want her to know that people care.”

Police arrested a 22-year-old and two 18-year-olds from three Carbrooke addresses on suspicion of snatching a handbag.

They were taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre but were released on bail, to return on Monday, November 5.

The stolen bag included £25 a mobile phone, a dark red purse and a debit card.
