PANCAKE racing returned to Swaffham on Shrove Tuesday when the people charged through the town with frying pans.
Yesterday's race, which was organised by Family Action Swaffham and the Iceni partnership, took place on the roadway to St Peter and St Paul's church, and involved young and old alike.
Teams were made up of business colleagues, families and individuals.
The George Hotel sent a strong team that, after three heats, provided the winner in the adult races, while the numerous children's races provided keen competition and plenty of smiling faces.
All the competitors had the opportunity to delve into a giant sweet box as consolation prizes, but the team from the George took home the Swaffham Pancake Trophy.
All the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Haiti earthquake appeal.
