Enid reunited with her artwork

SHE has created hundreds of paintings in the last 50 years, and in a special exhibition Enid Clarke has been reunited with some of her works of art from years gone by.

Enid - A Tribute Exhibition for Wayland Artist Enid Clarke includes about 30 of her paintings.

All of them have been decorating the homes of local people who have loaned the paintings to the Dragonfly Gallery, in Wayland House, Watton, for the special six-day exhibition which was officially opened last Wednesday and ran until Tuesday.

Jan Godfrey, of the Wayland Partnership, said: 'Enid is so talented at painting and has been living in our area for such a long time that we thought it would be wonderful to celebrate her work.'

Mrs Clarke, 90 and who is still a keen painter, said she was honoured by the exhibition.

'I had no idea that this was being planned. It is such an honour,' she said.

'This is something special because people have loaned their paintings for the exhibition and some of them go back a long way. It is wonderful to see them all again.'

Mrs Clarke, from Carbrooke, mostly enjoys painting flowers and still life. She first started painting when she was in her 40s, and after taking classes in miniature painting in the 1980s she decided to specialise in this area of art.

She is a member of the Royal Miniature Society and has regularly exhibited work in the society's national annual exhibition as well as in Australia and America. Her paintings have also featured in the Royal Academy's summer exhibitions.

Mrs Clarke and her husband Jack, 91, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary yesterday . The couple have two sons, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

t A new exhibition is at the Dragonfly Gallery from Saturday. The Summer Exhibition will feature a collection of artwork by 16 Norfolk artists. The exhibition will be open daily, except Sundays, from Saturday, August 7 until Saturday, August 21.
