A SELECTION of creative art and design work by students from Swaffham's Hamond's High School has been on public show and attracted considerable interest from visitors.

It is the first time that art and design work by students from across the school, including 18-year-old A-level students, has been put on show in the Assembly Rooms in the centre of Swaffham.

The school's head of art, Amy Lee, says she is delighted that the students' work has been shown to a wider audience.

She said she has been really pleased at the numbers of visitors taking an interest in the show and of their enthusiasm for what the school is doing.

Miss Lee said: 'There has been an eclectic selection of work from all the different year groups across the school and the display included sculpture, mixed media and animation. There are so many different strands to the work shown.'

Miss Lee said the reaction from the visitors had really encouraging and she was absolutely delighted at the interest.

'People were coming up to us and offering various services for the school and we have made lots of new contacts which is wonderful. We have had prefects and Year 9 students at the show and as they have been chatting to the visitors about their work it has been a tremendous boost to their confidence,' said Miss Lee.

She said it has been an excellent way for the work of the school to be brought out of the classroom and given a wider showing. Consideration is now to be given to staging such a show twice-yearly during summer and in the run-up to Christmas.
