CONTINENTAL markets are returning to Swaffham over the coming weeks.

French traders will return to town at the weekend following last year's success while the Italian market will make its debut at the beginning of June.

AN Italian market is on its way to Swaffham.

The market will make its debut at the beginning of June. Friends of the Swaffham Rec which aims to improve and provide recreation facilities in town will be serving tea and coffee in the Assembly Rooms to coincide with the event.

The announcement comes as organisers of the traditional auction have cancelled the event this month.

Town councillor Sheila Lister said the auction will return on May 17.

The Italian Market is expected on Sunday, June 1.
