A theatre company has donated £500 to a charity working with people suffering with cerebral palsy and associated disabilities.

The Boo & Hiss Theatre Company from Watton has been inspired to raise funds for the Norfolk and Norwich Scope (NANSA), when amateur actors, Stephen and Helen Stadius-Horn started taking their son, James, aged two, to the Norfolk School of Parents - one of the free pre-school development services provided by NANSA for children with disabilities.

Stephen said: “Both Helen and I are delighted that our friends at the Boo & Hiss Theatre Company have agreed to support such a worthy cause.

“We have seen James benefit so much in such a short time and we are involved with some fantastic families and friendly staff. We have seen for ourselves the wonderful job that NANSA does in providing such care and dedication to those who need their support.”

The £500 comes from the proceeds of group's production of Are You Being Served? which thrilled audiences last September.

Richard Stannard, NANSA community fundraiser, said: “Everyone at NANSA is extremely grateful to all those involved, it was a fantastic and entertaining show.

“It is pleasing so many families and friends are willing to support such a vibrant theatre company and in doing so, they are helping to raise funds for NANSA's much-needed services.”

Although NANSA provides their services free to children with disabilities and their families, the operational costs of the Family and Children's Services offered are in excess of £100,000 per annum, so their continued backing is greatly appreciated.

The Boo & Hiss Theatre Company are working on a new production in support of NANSA, Fur Coat and No Knickers which is due to be performed at Queen's Hall in Watton during September.

They are also planning to back the charity by taking part in the annual Golden Mile Big Bike Pedal Parade on August 17, where members and their families will be one of the teams riding a 24-seater bike along the Golden Mile in Great Yarmouth.
