CAR crime has been raised as the top priority for police to tackle in the Swaffham area after a meeting with local residents.

A street briefing was held by the town's safer neighbourhood team last Tuesday.

People said vehicle nuisance and car crime was their main concern - from inconsiderate parking to anti-social driving.

As a result of the meeting three new priorities for police in the area were set.

These were anti-social driving and litter in the Theatre Street car park, inconsiderate parking outside Swaffham Poultry Market and anti-social behaviour and car crime prevention in the town and surrounding area.

Between October and January, police said the team looked at anti-social behaviour, nuisance vehicles, theft from gardens and criminal damage in Necton.

They also looked at speeding and illegally parked cars in Watton Road and youngsters misusing the zebra crossing near Merryweather Road play area.

Anti-social behaviour and parking issues were also looked at in Highfield Avenue.

Future street briefings will be held on the following dates:

Tuesday, February 9, 6pm-7.30pm at Swaffham Assembly Rooms.

Wednesday, February 17, 10am-11.30am outside Swaffham Community Hospital, Sporle Road.

Wednesday, March 31, 6pm-7.30pm at Swaffham Assembly Rooms.
