A NORFOLK village was taken over by book worms on Sunday as youngsters hunted for them to pave the way to a trip to Disneyland Paris.

About 30 homes and other buildings in Thompson, near Watton, had displays on the theme of historical books and local history and people had to search around for the hidden worms.

It is the fourth time it has been staged and the event had extra interest with support from Disney, which offered a family pass for four worth up to £600 for the overall winner as well as a range of other prizes.

The hunt also raises money for the continuing development of Thompson Millennium Green.

Green chairman Ann Scott said: “It is family event. We looked at things which other villages have done and wanted to make it a bit different.”

During the afternoon there were a range of attractions including tractor and trailer rides, stalls, dancers, traditional games and story tellers.

The event also saw the launch of the new village website www.thompsonvillage.org.uk
