Construction company Mansell, which has a regional office in Swaffham, is celebrating winning a prestigious industry award. The company was named Major Contractor of the Year 2008 in the Building Awards which were presented in London at the beginning of April.

The Major Contractor of the Year award is presented annually to a construction company with a turnover in excess of £200 million per annum which can demonstrate success and exceptional performance in a number of areas including customer satisfaction, sustainability, partnering, innovation, employee satisfaction, health and safety and corporate social responsibility.

The judges were particularly impressed by references from a cross-section of Mansell's customer referees who gave them “almost perfect scores for quality of workmanship and for integrity”.

Mansell achieved a turnover of £872 million in 2007 and has 2,700 employees nationwide. The company enjoys impressive commercial performance and growth whilst retaining a very strong focus on supporting the communities it constructs.

The award is a particularly proud achievement for Mansell in its Centenary year, which it aspires to mark by raising £1 million for charity.
