Thirteen people have been bailed while police continue an investigation into an illegal rave which was broken up in Norfolk at the weekend.

A total of 14 people were arrested and a number of vehicles and equipment seized on Sunday during a policing operation to prevent a gathering at South Acre, near Swaffham.

After being alerted by a local resident to a large convoy of vehicles in the area just after midnight, police officers and the force helicopter were dispatched.

People were arrested for offences relating to the organisation of a rave, as well as drugs and public order offences.

Five were arrested under aviation laws for potentially putting lives at risk by shining lights at the force helicopter.

Thirteen people have been bailed while further inquiries are carried out.

A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of drink-driving has been charged and will appear before magistrates at Swaffham on Friday.

Supt Sarah Francis said the “swift and tough action” shown by police at the weekend would continue.

Anyone with information about an illegal rave or who sees suspicious activity on farmland or in buildings should ring 0845 555111.
