A cat that became a beloved visitor at a farm café has been reunited with his owners after going missing for two years.
Staff at Centre Paws Café in Wymondham had affectionately named the feline Mr Mistofelees after he began regularly appearing at the site around two months ago.
However, after scanning the cat for a microchip, they discovered he was actually called Steve and had been reported missing from Swaffham.
Centre Paws Café owner Tom Boggan explained that Steve first turned up looking "quite dishevelled and rough".
Initially, staff were cautious about feeding him in case he belonged to somebody else, but they soon assumed he was a feral farm cat.
Steve quickly made himself at home, sleeping on top of a dresser in the barn and arriving without fail at 9am and 4pm each day ready for his meals.
Over time, Steve became part of the team and a familiar face to customers visiting the café.
The breakthrough came when staff managed to get hold of a microchip scanner and discovered the cat was registered.
After contacting the details linked to the chip, veterinary staff revealed that Steve's owners, Shanoa and Ross, had been searching for answers since he disappeared from Swaffham two years ago.
The pair collected their long-lost pet last Thursday and Mr Boggan said the reunion was bittersweet for the team.
"We are a little bit gutted as we loved him coming to see us and he's been part of the team for all this time," he said.
"Even customers got to know him."
Wishing the adventurous cat well, he added: "We wish you well, Mr Mistofelees (Steve)."
