A fraudulent council tax letter is being used to trick people into paying money to a scam website.
The letter, which has Norfolk County Council branding, falsely claims there are changes to council tax payments and includes a QR code linking to a fake payment portal.
Norfolk County Council has confirmed it does not collect council tax and has warned locals to ignore the letter.
A council spokesman said: “Please be aware that this is a scam. Our Trading Standards team is investigating.”
People are being urged not to scan the QR code and to contact their district council directly with any council tax queries.
Fraudsters are continuing to target people across Norfolk through a variety of schemes, with recent warnings highlighting bank fraud, student loan scams and nuisance cold callers.
While the methods may differ, scammers have been attempting to trick victims into handing over money or personal information.
