More than a decade after a career change that turned her life upside down, a Norfolk baker better known as the Tattooed Cake Lady is gearing up for her next adventure.

When Sam Osbourne quit her comfortable job in advertising 12 years ago, she said she had no idea what was going to come next.

Having moved from Manchester to Great Yarmouth to be closer to family, she decided it was time to take things in a new direction.

Months later, she was the proud owner of Mocha Coffee Lounge on Regents Street, running a new business baking special occasion cakes.

She said: “It was a complete accident, getting into baking. More and more customers were asking me to make birthday cakes, so I watched a lot of Youtube videos and took a course in decorating.”

Over the next several years, Ms Osbourne’s fantastical designs caught the attention of some big clients, including Great British Bake Off The Musical, and Disney, who commissioned her to create a cake to promote the premier of the movie Encanto

Although she closed Mocha last year, her baking business continues to flourish, with multiple orders coming in each week - often for cartoon-themed cakes.

And without the pressure of running a venue, Ms Osbourne said she’s ready for a new challenge - a five day trek through the Himalayas with I’m a Celebrity winner, Giovanna Fletcher, to raise money for the charity CoppaFeel.

Ms Osbourne said: “I don’t have any trekking experience but I know I can cover the distance from walking around the Disney Parks.

“It’s overwhelming thinking about the trip - I’m wobbly about the altitude but plan on getting some practice up north.

“My fundraising target is £3,600. I’ve got a big drag night planned for the Jube in Great Yarmouth next month, and a cake raffle at the Caister Festival.

“I’ve got a lot to raise so fingers crossed people get behind it!”
