The national roll-out of five standalone "concept" stores selling Wilko-branded products has prompted speculation that the former high street giant could return.

Falling into administration earlier this year, the Wilko brand was bought in a £5m deal by CDS Superstores International which owns The Range, announcing that former Wilko products would soon be sold in its 200 stores nationwide before Christmas.

As well as the relaunch of wilko.com, five standalone stores have been revealed for locations in the South, South-East and North.

The new Wilko stores will offer shoppers Wilko-brand products alongside other well-known brands.

Wilko had stores in Norwich, Thetford, King's Lynn, Dereham and Great Yarmouth which all closed on or before October 8.

CEO of CDS Superstores, Alex Simpkin said: "For the majority of its 93 years, Wilko was an incredibly successful business that gave its customers exactly what they needed to get their home and garden jobs sorted.

"It was their advanced own-brand capabilities that encouraged us to invest in the brand and that's why we've taken the decision to reintroduce Wilko back to many of the high streets and communities that it used to so proudly serve."
