Proposals to knock down a house and build six new homes on and around its site have been slated as "over development".
Agent Icon Architectural has applied to demolish the existing property near the Richmond Park Golf Club in Watton.
Its application to Breckland Council for outline planning permission says the site, at 8 Swaffham Road, offers scope to "introduce a measured amount of residential development into the south-western portion" of the town.
It adds proposals for two three-bedroom homes and four four-bed properties on the site would create "new family-oriented dwellings in a sustainable location".

But Watton Town Council is opposing the plans. It says: "Watton Town Council considers that this application, without specified numbers, could constitute over development of the site.
"It also understands that the Watton and Saham Toney Flood Action Group will be submitting comments in relation to the site and requests that the representations made are given full consideration given the group's detailed local knowledge."
The homes would be accessed via a new private drive. A decision is expected later this year.
