Bridgham Utd 6 Cockers 1

Bridgham Utd reached the semi- final of the Crown Fire Central & South Norfolk League’s Fen Regis Shield with a comfortable win against Division Two Cockers – a result which meant they finished top of Group D.

Bridgham struggled to convert chances and Cockers took a shock lead with a superb free-kick after half an hour and also went close on three other occasions.

However, Bridgham equalised straight away through Scott Marketis and soon took the lead via an own goal from a corner.

Leading scorer Alan Boon made it 3-1 before half time after a fine finish.

In the final 20 minutes of the second half Bridgham scored three more goals.

First Jack West-Jordan finished well, then Boon scored his 25th goal of the season before Jason Conroy dribbled through the Cockers defence to complete the scoring.

The Bridgham man of the match was Scott Marketis while their March player of the month was Stuart Tucker.

Swaffham Town A beat Walsingham Utd 2-0 in Group A and a draw from their last match will see them through to the semi-finals.

In Group B, Northwold S&SC beat Shropham United 3-0 to throw the Group wide open.

Yaxham secured their place in the Final of the Chequered Flag Primary League Cup with a 3-2 win over Thurton & Ashby in their replayed semi-final and will meet the holders of the cup, Castle Acre Swifts, at Aldiss Park on Wednesday, April 25.
