Developers hoping to build up to 180 homes in Watton will have to wait to discover the scheme’s fate - after the item was pulled from a committee agenda.

Members of Breckland's planning committee had been due to consider an application from Gladman Developments Ltd to build on land off Thetford Road on Tuesday.

However, after the Environment Agency indicated it would be objecting to the application, officers deferred the decision to a future meeting.

The EA had raised concerns that the development could pollute drinking water, due to the developers proposing the site be draining with a borehole soakaway.

The application had been recommended for approval by council officers, however, after the EA indicated it would not be withdrawing its objection the item was pulled.

Fiona Hunter, case officer for the application, said that for this reason more time was needed to assess the proposals before the committee could be asked to make a final decision.
