The A47 was closed after a crash covered the road in oil.

The road was closed at Necton, between Swaffham and Dereham, causing traffic.

The crash, which was first reported at 7.30am, was partially blocking the road at the Tunns Road junction.

Highways closed a section of the road after the crash caused an oil spill.

There were long tailbacks in both directions with drivers advised to allow for extra time on any journeys.

The congestion worsened as rush hour traffic descended on the major commuter route.

Emergency services were at the scene.

Fire crews from Dereham and Swaffham used hydraulic rescue equipment to release the occupants.

An air ambulance also landed at the scene with minor injuries recorded.
