RAF Reserves Team rider Peter Hickman produced a brace of seventh-place finishes after another tussle with the big boys at the ninth round of the British Superbikes Championship at Donington.

In the fine conditions it was soon the usual contenders who went to the front with Ryuichi Kiyonari and Shane Byrne taking control, but Hickman was in the thick of the battle behind them, eventually crossing the line in seventh to add more points to his growing tally since the RAF Marham team signed him up.

In the second outing, Kiyonari and Byrne were at it again, but once again Hickman was taking the scalps of some class riders as he added another seventh place – having come into series late he sits in an impressive 11th place in the championship with point winning rides in every race.

In the Triumph Triple Challenge it was business as normal for Kings Lynn’s Freddy Pett on the M40/Dales Racing 675cc Triumph. On the back of two wins at Cadwell Park he won the first race by more than five seconds and on Sunday did it again.

Making his return to racing for the RAF Reserves team after injury was Conor Cummins on the Teams Honda Fireblade in the Superstock 1000 class, Cummins found the pace tiring and missed out on any points. In the Superstock 600 class Gorleston teenager Charlie King, on the Team Haribo Starmix 675 Triumph, was caught up in a crash and failed to finish. Long Stratton’s Ben Bygrave and Justin Sharpe crashed in free practice and were ruled out of the weekend’s sidecar races.
