Swaffham Raceway stages its biggest banger racing event in many years this Sunday with their all Cortina banger meeting to celebrate the iconic Ford’s 50th birthday.
Over 150 cars are booked in from across England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland and Belgium.
Amongst the huge entry are Norwich drivers David Rust, Paul Picton and Lee Petherick plus North Walsham’s Deane Mayes and Stephen Cooper and from Great Yarmouth is John Cullingford.
In support are the Classic Modifieds which are a retro inspired, V6 powered classic car formula. The gates open at 9am on Sunday morning and, with a bumper crowd expected from the UK and Europe, everyone is advised to arrive early.
A grand parade of race cars starts at 1pm with the first race starting at 1.30pm. Admission costs £15 adults, £10 OAP’s and young adults (under-14’s) and children (under-7) are free plus a family ticket is available for £45. • Stock Car and Banger Racing returns to the Norfolk Arena this Saturday (6pm) for one of the highlights of the season – the first of the 2012 BriSCA F1 Stock Car World Championship semi-finals.
The meeting promises to be a cracker with driver bookings edging towards 60 F1s.
Former multi champion Frankie Wainman Jnr (Keighley) and newly crowned British Champion Craig Finnikin (Leek) start the semi-final on the front row. Support action comes from the F2 Stock Cars and the BriSCA MiniStox.
