The helicopter was called to the jail, just outside Watton, at about 3pm yesterday and the man was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “A prisoner from HMP Wayland was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital following a serious self-harm incident on Tuesday, July 10. The prisoner remains in hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

  • Disgusting comment. Prisoner or not, he is still a person. Anyone who wishes that on another person is no better than the criminals themselves. You should be ashamed.
