Norfolk and Suffolk could be in for blustery weather on Wednesday, with Met Office forecasters issuing a warning over windy conditions.

The East of England is one of the areas of the United Kingdom covered by a yellow warning of wind, with forecasters warning strong and, at times, gusty winds are on their way.

The Met Office chief forecaster said: “A swathe of strengthening winds is expected to affect England and Wales, arriving in the west initially before pushing eastwards during the early hours of Wednesday.

“Particularly strong and gusty winds could be associated with heavy, blustery showers on Wednesday. Gusts of 50 to 60mph are likely quite widely within the warning area, whilst gusts of 70 to 80mph may affect exposed coastal areas in the west and south.”

The warning is in place from 12.05am until 10pm on Wednesday.

The Met Office said: “It’s likely that some coastal communities and routes will be affected by spray and large waves, whilst there is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown on to sea fronts, roads and coastal properties, along western and southern coasts.”

They said there was also a small chance of injuries and danger to life, as well as minor property damage, from flying debris and the possibility of transport delays.
