An air ambulance has been called after a car crashed with a tree in Weasenham.

A woman who was cut out of her car after it crashed into a tree in Weasenham, between Swaffham and Fakenham, has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened at about 9.30am this morning between the junction of the A1065 and B1145 and village, and an air ambulance was called at 10am because of fears the driver could lose consciousness at some point.

Paramedics went into the back of the car and stayed with the woman, who is believed to be in her 30s or 40s, while firefighters from Massingham, Fakenham and Swaffham cut the roof off and released her.

A land ambulance took her to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn at 11.07am, and she was said to be in a stable condition and likely to escape with minor cuts and bruises.

A police spokesman said they were called to a report of a single vehicle that had left the road and hit a tree, and said the vehicle went onto its side.

The accident had partially blocked the A1065 in both directions.
