The number of Norfolk Recycling Centres which offer reuse shops could increase, as council bosses continue to find ways to save money.

Norfolk County Council had caused controversy when it announced it was introducing charges for waste DIY at its tips, to save £220,000 a year.

County Hall bosses now say they now think it will save more than £500,000 because of the extra income and a reduction in how much waste the council was having to pay to dispose of.

And now, the council is hoping to save a further £40,000 by providing more reuse shops at tips, which will bring in more money and further reduce disposal costs.

The shops take donations of good quality second hand pieces and sell them on at car boot sale prices.

The council wants to open such shops at Wells, Bergh Apton and Snetterton, joining the nine which are already run at recycling centres.
