Bitter Arctic winds to bring freezing temperatures and snow to Norfolk and Waveney

Temperatures are set to plummet in the region this week with the chance of snow.

A cold northerly wind is set to blow across Norfolk and Waveney until at least Friday with forecasters warning of bitter conditions.

Daytime temperatures will be around 5C but with the strong winds from the Arctic this will feel more like 0C and from Wednesday night into Thursday there will be a chance of sleet and snow showers, especially along the north Norfolk coast.

Norfolk County Council’s gritters were out last night and the council expects they will used again this week.

Iain Temperton, Norfolk County Council’s casualty reduction team manager, said: “The most important piece of advice we tell drivers is to always drive to the road conditions and never assume those conditions won’t change throughout your journey.”

Temperatures in other parts of the country may dip to as low as minus 10C later this week.
