There has finally been some good news for the customers of a pub destroyed by a fire earlier this year.

The Breckland Lodge in Attleborough has been closed since the beginning of February when a fire, which started in the roof, completely ravaged the restaurant building.

However the hotel rooms were housed in a separate nearby building and the venue has now announced it is taking bookings for stays from November.

There is no word yet on when the restaurant will be taking food reservations.

Reaction to the news has spread on social media, with the announcement by the Breckland Lodge being shared on Facebook just shy of 100 times so far.

Breckland Lodge opened 35 years ago as a coffee lounge and has since gone on to add a bar, restaurant and hotel. It will remain closed until further notice following a 'devastating' fire. One user Petra Kovács wrote: “I miss my Breckland Lodge! Absolutely love this place! Can’t wait for it to be opened again.”

Another Facebook user Sarah Bunting posted: “Can’t wait, miss this place to meet up with friends and family - it’s the perfect place!”

On the morning of Tuesday, February 6, more than 60 firefighters battled to extinguish the flames which spread quickly through the venue, which is also known as The Stag.

Neighbouring pub The White Lodge opened its doors as a place of refuge for the staff and guests of Breckland Lodge during the blaze.

At the time manager Colin Kilby said: “The whole building is gone but everything can be rebuilt.

“We will rebuild and we will rebuild better. It will be disruptive but we will get by.”

Demolition began last month and now the owners are working with architects to create their vision for the future of the venue, which has been a landmark in Norfolk for more than 30 years.

Known for its popular carveries, the Breckland Lodge has been missed by the community and visitors alike.

Messages of support have poured out over the past two months since the fire and regular updates on the venue’s Facebook page are always greeted with hopeful and positive comments.

Owners of the Breckland Lodge hope to announce their new plans for the rebuild in the coming months.
