Breckland Council progresses new strategy to tackle housing issues and homelessness

A key document that will help shape future housing and homelessness services in the district has been given the green light by Breckland councillors.
Breckland Council’s new ‘Housing and Homelessness Strategy 2017– 2021’ outlines how Breckland, together with partner agencies, will help prevent and mitigate homelessness, work with landlords to improve the quality of the private rented sector, return long-term empty homes back into use, and help ensure that appropriate housing is delivered to meet the needs of residents.
The council consulted widely on the strategy, inviting input from residents, housing associations, homelessness organisations and private landlords.
It is anticipated that a report outlining proposals to help reduce the number of empty homes will be published in late summer.
The strategy will be published on the Breckland Council website.
