Santa is about to climb into his sleigh and visit the people of Dereham and surrounding villages.

The famous North Pole man's mid-Norfolk run will go from Sunday, December 3 to 17.

He will appear at the Ellenor Fenn Garden on Saturday, December 16 from 11.30am-1pm where he will be giving out presents to children.

Santa’s run will also include: Watton on December 2 at 4pm, Scarning and Moorgate on December 3 at 4pm, Mattishall on December 5 at 6pm, Shipdham on December 9 at 4pm, Norwich Road and Greenfields on December 10 at 4pm, Swanton Morley on December 12 at 6pm, and Middlemarch and Hillcrest on December 17 at 4pm.

Ryan Seymour, chairman of Dereham and District Round Table, said: “We’re extremely excited to be back out on the streets of Dereham, Watton and surrounding villages with Santa and the sleigh this year.

“It’s one of the highlights of the round table calendar and a great opportunity to get out into the community to see so many faces light up as Santa passes by.

“This year there are eight opportunities to meet Santa in a slightly different format of designated stops for each run, with round table collecting for local charities and organisations, some of which will be part of this year’s 12 days of Christmas promotion.”

Rather than the usual one to three charities to give funds to, this year the round table has opted to give away £5,000, split between 12 local organisations such as school friends groups.

The table is putting in £4,000 and Hunters Hall is donating the remaining £1,000.

Matthew Stevenson, director at Hunters Hall, said: “For a family-run wedding venue, it’s a fantastic opportunity for Hunters Hall to able to support Dereham Round Table with their 12 days of Christmas giveaway.

“Children and their families are such an important part of our community.”
