Delays expected on A47 due to works at Tuns Road, Necton

From 6am on Saturday, November 25 to 6am on Monday, November 27, three-way temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A47 at Necton.

It is part of an ongoing £2.2m project to widen the "mouth" of junctions at Tuns Road in Necton and Dunham Road in Easton. 

It is hoped this will improve visibility for cars joining the A47.

The project began in September and most work is being completed overnight to avoid disruption - but National Highways says the occasional weekend work will still be necessary. 

During next weekend's closure, Tuns Road will be closed between the A47 and St Andrews Lane and there will be no access to the A47 from Dunham Road.

Road users will be able to access Necton via Rudge Way next to Costa Coffee and bus stops on the A47 near Tuns Road will remain open. 

Alice Grandidge, National Highways’ project manager for the junction improvements, said: "We have sent out thousands of letters to local residents and businesses.

"Signs are in place as far away as Norwich and Kings Lynn to advise of expected delays and we will also have traffic contractors on site to adjust the phasing of the traffic lights to ensure traffic flow is maximised over the working weekend."

Proposals have also been submitted to lower the speed limit from 50mph to 40mph on the A47 at Necton which National Highways hopes could be in place by next spring.

National Highways is holding a community event tomorrow at Necton Community Centre between 2pm and 6pm. 

This will be an opportunity for people to meet the team carrying out the improvements and ask any questions or raise any issues they may have.
