A woman who lives in a "respectable" Norfolk village was shocked to find her kitchen window had been shot at.

Lindsay Abel, 64, was cooking Sunday lunch for her family when she spotted the distinctive mark on her kitchen window in Northwold.

Happening sometime on Saturday (August 26), Ms Abel said she heard the shot but was unable to find where it had gone until a day later.

"I heard it but couldn't find it at the time," she said.

"Quite frankly I am shocked, I thought this was a nice, respectable village.

"We have had someone from the neighbourhood watch round to look and they reckon it's a .22 air rifle pellet but we are all at a loss as to where it was fired from."

The retiree, who lives in Glebe Close, took to social media to make enquiries, reasoning the shot could not have come from a local field because her house backs onto garages.

"My garden is pretty enclosed with sheds and garages behind," she added.

"I am sure it probably was an accident but worrying if you have animals, luckily I don't."

Norfolk Police have been approached for comment.
